About Us

Our Story

Our family moved to the farm in 1979 and started planting blueberries in the valley in 1983. Rabbit eye variety was chosen for their juicy fullness and hardy nature. As the crop grew so did our family adding four children over the next few years, all of whom have eaten bucket loads of berries. There are now six grandchildren who can be found roaming the berries each summer in search of the biggest and tastiest. Pick your own started in the early 1990's after a request from a friend to come and "pick a few berries and give you some cash". Word quickly spread and the farm has been open to more and more people each year. We hope you enjoy brining your friends  and family to the farm and be sure to 'sample' some berries as you enjoy the experience. We are about the farm daily and are happy to have a chat!

The Health Benefits of Blueberries

Blueberries are often referred to as a "superfood" due to their exceptional nutritional profile. They are low in calories but high in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. Here are some of the health benefits associated with blueberries:

  • Antioxidant Powerhouse: Blueberries are rich in antioxidants, which help protect your body against free radicals and oxidative stress. These antioxidants have been linked to a reduced risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease and cancer.
  • Brain Health: The antioxidants in blueberries have been shown to improve brain function and delay age-related cognitive decline. They may also enhance memory and improve overall brain health.
  • Heart Health: Blueberries are beneficial for heart health due to their high levels of anthocyanins, which have been associated with a reduced risk of heart disease. They can help lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol levels, and promote healthy blood vessel function.
  • Digestive Health: Blueberries are a great source of dietary fiber, which aids in digestion and promotes a healthy gut. They can help prevent constipation and promote regular bowel movements.
  • Immune System Support: Blueberries are packed with vitamin C, which is essential for a healthy immune system. Consuming blueberries regularly can help strengthen your immune system and protect against common illnesses.

Family Fun and Community

Blueberry picking is not only a healthy and educational activity but also a great way to spend quality time with your family. It allows children to learn about nature, agriculture, and the importance of sustainable farming practices. By picking your own blueberries, you can create lasting memories and enjoy the fresh taste of nature's bounty.

Furthermore, blueberry farms often foster a sense of community. They provide a space for people to come together, connect with nature, and support local farmers. Many blueberry farms organize events and activities that promote community engagement and create a sense of belonging.

So, whether you are looking for a fun family outing or want to support your local community, blueberry picking is an excellent choice. It combines the joy of being in nature, the health benefits of consuming fresh produce, and the opportunity to connect with your loved ones and community.
